Battle Beasts were released by Hasbro in 1986. The Figures came in 2 packs & 10 packs and also had vehicles and bases (which included a Battle Beast).
Popularity grew and the kids loved these armored animals in cybernetic suits! Hasbro created more figures which later connected with the most famous toy lines, Transformers.
Seventy-six regular Battle Beasts were produced. Each character unique in its own way. Each figure came with its own unique weapon, which had the same number as the figure. The most popular feature of the line was the "heat" sensitive symbol on the chest. The symbol would tell the affiliation of the beast. The Battle Beast could either be Fire, Wood or Water!
Many types of vehicles were produced. The only three that were released world wide were the pull backs of the Tiger, Ram and Deer. Japan had exclusive pieces such as the Gold Drill Mailaway, Creature Sleds and the Shield Sleds. All of these vehciles could hol eone or more figures and was a pullback.
Later came "Shadowbeasts" or "Lasebeasts" in Japan. They were released around the world in small distributions. The Shadowbeasts are usually found in Japan. These new Battle Beasts contained a orb in their stomach which deicted the symbol. VERY NIFTY!
Over the year, paraphernalia followed with the craze. Items such as Lunchboxes, Halloween Costumes and Games. This boosted the popularity and kept
the line going. The rest is collectible history......
