Tonka started to test new idea's for various types of new Gobots. The Dread Launchers series is probably the most unique and dumbest decisions Tonka has made. The actual 8" tall robots are quite nice and more poseable than their Transformers counterparts of that time. they even still have die-cast parts while Hasbro was making Transformers all plastic byt his time. But the vehicle modes are lacking in play ability and coolness. What may have sounded great as a concept turned quite the opposite when it became reality.     Only three Dread Launchers were produced. These toys were some of the last produced Gobots and did not get produced in many countires including Japan. All three were Renegade and are supposed to compliment the Secret Rider series, which were all Guardians.
