This mistake probably happened just like the Marvel Heroes Invisble Woman, which the paint had too much of a certain chemical and the figure turned from blue, to purple, to grey over time. Other Transformers have be known to have chrome differences such as Beast Wars Transmetal Prime and Megatron. But unlike the Purple TM Prime or the TM Pink Megtron, This is a true purple color and a tough varation to find.
